Course Overview

The Undergraduate Certificate in Nursing Practice (Bridging Course) is a full-time program designed for individuals aged 19 to 65 years old. The course spans 1 year and requires 1250 total learning hours, offering a comprehensive and immersive educational experience. Successful completion of the program awards 50 ECTS, a qualification recognized by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority.

This bridging course is specifically designed to help nursing professionals advance their careers, and upon completion, participants become eligible to seek registration as First-Level Nurses with the Maltese Nursing and Midwifery Council, opening up further professional opportunities within the healthcare sector.

Course Details

The Undergraduate Certificate in Nursing Practice (Bridging Course) is specifically designed for Third-Country Nationals who hold a nursing qualification at a minimum of MQF Level 5. This program aims to guide aspiring nurses in developing their knowledge, skills, and competencies within a multicultural healthcare environment. The course covers a wide range of topics, addressing the developmental, physical, physiological, and spiritual aspects of human health. It equips students with the tools to effectively manage illnesses and challenging behaviors.

Entry Requirements:
  • Candidates must be at least 19 years old.
  • Must hold a minimum qualification at MQF Level 5 in Nursing.
  • The student must have achieved a minimum of 6 bands in each section of the IELTS exam or a minimum of ‘B’ grade in speaking and ‘C+’ grades in writing, reading, and listening in the OET. 
 
During the course:

Learners will be able to:

Display a comprehensive understanding of nursing responsibilities aligned with EU
Directives and the standards set forth by The Council for Nurses and Midwives, Malta.
• Exhibit a thorough understanding of the scientific and ethical foundations of nursing,
including physiological functions, health principles, and the impact of the environment
on health.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Maltese and EU legislation and ethical standards relevant to
nursing practice.
• Engage with and apply research-based literature to healthcare practice, demonstrating
solidarity with others.
• Utilize effective communication techniques and understand the dynamics of team
collaboration in healthcare settings.
• Recognize and pursue ongoing personal and professional development in nursing.
• Apply knowledge to organize and manage healthcare delivery effectively across different
scenario
